1999

Millingen a. d. Rijn              24 - 26 Sept. 1999

It was big! It was good!
The European style H0 layout was big. They run many trains per session. More than 40 operators (yardmaster, engineers) were needed.

NOTES ON THE TIMETABLE

USED ABBREVIATIONS:
TF = Through Freight             LF = Local Freight             SF = Slow Freight

Labor Express : (RDC or Railbus), stops also at Flagstop and Route 128 (Park & Ride).

"Super Clipper": Express train, can be Santa Fe/New Haven mix or other. Stops only at Q-ford for changing passengers to the Local Rambler.

Local Rambler: Passenger train from Q-Ford via Johnsville to No-Name City and from there via Springfield Harbor to Pittsfield Jct.

The trackplan is divided into three divisions: 3rd Street Yard Division (handles traffic to Johnsville / Flagstop), F-Yard Division (handles traffic for Grafton, Q-ford and Kewanee Jct.) and No-Name City Division (handles traffic on the branch line to Springfield harbor and Pittsfield Jct.).
While there's rather much industry to serve, the LF and SF trains have plenty of time to switch cars to and from the diverse industrial sites.

TF 1 transports freight cars directly from F-Yard to 3rd Street Yard. From there this will be divided into TF 2 and LF 2. The first one goes straight to No-Name City.

[ It is advisable to sort cars for the TF 2 at the rear part of the train, while those for the LF 2 can be on the front half. ]

The TF 2, arrived in No-Name City, there sort out cars as SF 11 to serve the branch to Pittsfield Jct. At the almost end of the day it will be return as SF 12 to No-Name City.

he SF 10 is just a local freight that can transfer some cars to Springfield harbor and No-Name City for further transport to the "rest-of-the-world".

The TF 4 can transfer all surplus cars from 3rd Street Yard to F-Yard, more or less an "exhaust valve", to give some "air" in 3rd Street Yard. Can be canceled if not needed.

Again there's a UNIT TRAIN / EXTRA, which handle cars as a unit that need no car cards plus waybills. There's a possibility for an extra (Guest train, Caboose hop, Extreme transport or such), that either don't need car cards.
